Sankara Eye Foundation – USA (Donor Profile)

45 MILLION PEOPLE ARE VISUALLY IMPAIRED.
The magnitude of blindness is enormous. India has the largest population of the world’s blind; with over 45 million visually impaired and 12 million totally blind.
According to the World Health Organization, World Vision Report (2019):
“At present, at least 2.2 billion people around the world have a vision impairment, of whom at least 1 billion have a vision impairment that could have been prevented or is yet to be addressed. The world faces considerable challenges in terms of eye care, including inequalities in the coverage and quality of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services; a shortage of trained eye care service providers; and poor integration of eye care services into health systems, among others.”
Every year, one million more people are added to these statistics. Fortunately, nearly 80% of them can easily be cured if only they can receive treatment.

PEOPLE IN RURAL AREAS HAVE LITTLE HOPE.
This is where Sankara Eye Foundation operates. Your donations are used to build hospitals and conduct FREE eye surgeries for those in need. By providing patients with world-class medical and renowned doctors, these perpetually underserved communities will have a cure for blindness.
